How To Get Traffic To Your Website For Free

Everyone wants the perfect answer to this question and there really isn’t one. The traffic isn’t just going to show up either. You could have the most beautiful informative site on the web but without work and effort on your part all it will do is take up space. Getting your site seen has to to with research, keywords, search engine optimization (SEO) and other factors. Out of the millions of sites out there your most beautiful site is just one of the millions unless people know about it. So how do they get to know about it?

What I do and most other marketers that are not paying to advertise do is write articles. Now I can almost hear everyone saying WRITE ARTICLES! I CAN”T DO THAT! Yes you can and you will have to. A lot of an Internet Marketing business is writing, be it for content for a website, blog or article you or someone has to write it. I touched on this in another post. You can outsource your article writing but just starting out you probably don’t have the money or don’t want to part with the cash so you will have to do it yourself.

When I first started I had joined the Wealthy Affiliate Program and was starting the lessons there and saw that basically the only way to get traffic to your website for free was to write articles I almost quit right then. Right away my mind said to me you can’t write and I almost gave up before I even tried it. Now I consider myself a pretty good writer. All you have to do is do it and stop fretting about it. Your first few times will probably be not so good but keep at it and you will get better. You are your own worst critic. I know my stuff has gotten much, much better. I can go back and look at an article I wrote a few months ago and am amazed that I wrote it. It does get easier folks so just jump in and do it!

How do I write an article?

First you have to do keyword research like I went over in this post, Keywords - Good Keyword Research Is A Must! Once you find a good low competition keyword that you want to write an article about go for it. First in your article you want your keyword or keyword phrase in the title and once again in the first sentence. then about once every 75 to 100 words, in the last sentence and again a couple of times in your resource box.

Basically you want to structure your articles so that in the first paragraph give a quick overview of what you are going to tell them the second 2 or 3 paragraphs tell it to them and the last paragraph recap what you just told them and use the keyword in the last sentence. You want your articles to be between 300 and 500 words. Basically you want your articles to get the reader to click on a link in the resourse box that will take them back to your blog, site or landing page. The article you post on the web should be a teaser to get them interested enough to click the link to your site.

What is a resource box?

Most article sites will not let you self promote or put links in the body of your article but they do let you do this in the resource box. I have seen a lot of crappy resource boxes where the author is blowing his own horn, his edeucation, background etc… You can write just about anything in your resource box and put links in it. This is prime real estate to get the click so come up with something good and use it!

Every post I have on this blog has an article posted at Ezine articles that will send them to the corrasponding post on this blog so they can learn more about the topic. This is just one way to do it.

What is Ezine Articles?

Ezine Articles is the best article site on the web to get your articles published. They have a high google page rank which your article picks up once your article gets published. When you submit an article here a human will review it and if it meets the terms of service and reads good it will get approved and go live. At first this will take a while but once you get your first 10 the time to get them published decreases. It is free to start an account there and submit your articles. You can do your articles right there on site.

I am going to talk about this here because you will see a lot about it in the forums and that is duplicate content. If you post your article at another article site first and then try to post it at Ezine they will reject it as duplicate content. Same thing if you post it on your site or blog first. Once you post it at Ezine and it gets approved you can post it at any article site you like. I don’t post the same article on my site or blog. You can re-write them and change them up a little for posting on your site. Other bloggers and site owners will pick up your articles and post them to their sites and blogs. This is allowed as long as they keep the resourse box intact. Here is a link to one of my articles on Ezine Articles that goes along with a post on this blog. The bottom paragraph of this article starting with procrastination is all resource box. Ezine Articles allows 300 words in the resource box and 2 links. So there you have it how to get traffic to your website for free. You can also do free press releases, post on free classified sites put your link in your sig at forums. I need to say this DO NOT USE THOSE FFA SITES they are no good and all you will do is get spammed. The sites like traffic swarm don’t send targeted traffic. If you manually submit a free submition to search engines it could take months to get in. If you have the money to pay you are gaurenteed inclusion quick. If you can do it more power to you!!!

This is the best way to get traffic to your website for free. I just got an article approved at Ezine Friday and had 20 views by Monday morning ans was #3 in the Google Results so this does work.
